See, that’s what the app is perfect for.

Sounds perfect Wahhhh, I don’t wanna

You know, something just occurred to me, not sure why it didn’t sooner

Why DON’T advertisers want to put their ads next to adult content?

Like, ads already play in places they have no business playing in, like when I’m playing the My Little Pony app, aimed entirely at children, and I sometimes get ads on it for like, beauty products, coffee makers, electric shavers, etc.

Those ads don’t belong in an app for children

I understand something like a Barbie playset or a Disney’s Magic Kingdom thing because it usually results in the kid going “Mommy mommy mommy can I get this?” and sometimes the mommy buys it.

But when a kid sees an ad for a Gilette Fusion beard razor for men, they’re just gonna be like “???”

So it makes me wonder: If a website is adult oriented, like PornHub or the former Tumblr, why would someone advertising razors NOT want to advertise there? Why would Gilette wanna advertise on the My Little Pony app, but not on PornHub or Tumblr?

Wouldn’t electric shavers, hair care products, cosmetic makeup and energy drinks be something that someone on a porn site might be interested in more often than kids on a kid-friendly website might be?

Like if I’m sitting here browsing porn on Tumblr and I see a fucking Wendy’s or Pizza Hut ad, you better believe it makes me wanna go get Wendy’s or Pizza Hut are you fucking kidding me? I’ve on SEVERAL occasions gotten in my adult car that I have with my adult money that I earned doing adult things just to go get an adult burger from adult Pizza Hut

The ads have been successful SO MANY times, you know why? Because I’m an adult, with money, who makes money, who can use that money to buy products from advertisements

So when I see an ad on an adult website, I’m significantly more likely to consider it, but when I see an ad for an adult-oriented product like shaving cream while I’m playing My Little Pony, I just get confused and go “Why are they advertising shaving cream to kids????”

I don’t understand the stigma attached to advertising on adult websites

To me, it sounds extremely profitable

On PornHub I once saw an ad for mac n cheese where the tagline was “Food that you want to fork” and the guy was spanking his mac n cheese with his fork and calling it a bad boy, I laughed myself into tears, and I went to the store to buy a box and try it.

It sucked but the point is the AD WORKED

AND I HAD MY DICK IN MY HAND WHILE THE AD PLAYED

The fact that it played while I was watching porn didn’t make it any less effective and at no point did I think “What a gross company, advertising their product on a PORN SITE?”

Like fuck off with that, that mac n cheese was… Well it wasn’t great tasting but I still bought it. They got 4 dollars from me because an actor spanked his mac n cheese in front of me while I was spanking it to 3D futa girls fucking each other to Drum n Bass music.

Maybe I’m alone in that, maybe I’m an extreme minority

But I really don’t fucking understand what’s wrong with advertising on an adult website, it makes no sense to me.

rainbowloliofjustice

Like honestly, I don’t understand why advertisers think that people will care that much that their advertising was on a porn or adult video.

Adults have money to buy shit. Your average person won’t care that a company put their ad in a porn video or something. Like, advertisers have this idea of being Moral ™ and Just ™ and it’s just like… we know you out for our money so drop the act of morality and purity and caring about people and shit when it comes to where you put your ads, esp when they put them in every other arguably inappropriate place.

It’s incredibly frustrating to because these advertisers pretty much have a chokehold on any large social media site, i.e tumblr, twitter, facebook, youtube, etc.

gladiolus-the-batty

the answer is because puritan assholes are still a huge demographic and if your razor blades are advertized with BOOBIES a large group of people will literally get upset.

it’s more trouble than it’s worth, letting the puritans leave england was a mistake

Hey Tumblr–

A couple of weeks ago we announced an update to our Community Guidelines regarding adult content, and we’ve received a lot of questions and feedback from you. First and foremost, we are sorry that this has not been an easy transition and we know we can do a better job of explaining what we’re doing. We knew this wasn’t going to be an easy task and we appreciate your patience as we work through the challenges and limitations of correctly flagging tens of billions of GIFs, videos, and photos.

Today, December 17th, our policy begins to take effect. This means that we will start hiding – not deleting – posts that contain GIFs, videos, and photos from public view that are in violation of our policy. Again, this is a complex problem, and over the coming weeks we will gradually, and carefully, flag more adult content. (Yes, we will still make mistakes, but hopefully fewer and fewer.)

More importantly, we want to clarify the things that you, as a community, have asked about the most.

Tumblr will always be a place to explore your identity. Tumblr has always been home to marginalized communities and always will be. We fully recognize Tumblr’s special obligation to these communities and are committed to ensuring that our new policy on adult content does not silence the vital conversations that take place here every day. LGBTQ+ conversations, exploration of sexuality and gender, efforts to document the lives and challenges of those in the sex worker industry, and posts with pictures, videos, and GIFs of gender-confirmation surgery are all examples of content that is not only permitted on Tumblr but actively encouraged.

We also want to reiterate some important information from our Support post:

Your content will not be deleted. If your post(s) are flagged under the new policy, they will be hidden from public view and will only be visible to you. You can appeal these flags if you feel your content was erroneously marked as adult content. Upcoming feature changes will also make appeals more manageable for those of you with multiple flagged posts. Your blog won’t be deleted if you’ve posted adult content in the past, and there is nothing you need to do if you have interacted with adult content up until now–it will just be flagged and not publicly viewable. Don’t forget too that you can download your content. It’s yours after all, and we don’t take that lightly.

image

What is still permitted? We’ve heard a lot of concern about what the policy does not permit, but we want to make sure that you also know what is still permitted:

Written content such as erotica, nudity related to political or newsworthy speech, and nudity found in art, specifically sculptures and illustrations, is also stuff that can be freely posted on Tumblr. Although, photorealistic imagery or photography – images, videos, or GIFs – with real humans that include exposed genitals or female-presenting (yeah, we know you hate this term) nipples or depict sex acts is not allowed per our guidelines.

Examples of exceptions that are still permitted but that you may need to appeal if they are misclassified are: exposed female-presenting nipples in connection with breastfeeding, birth or after-birth moments, and health-related situations, such as post-mastectomy or gender confirmation surgery.

The automated tools will improve. Having a post mistakenly flagged as adult totally sucks; we understand and agree that there have been too many wrongfully flagged posts since we announced the policy change. With tens of billions of GIFs, videos, and photos to review and millions of new posts every day, we really need your help to get it right.

The more you help by reporting content that’s not permitted and by appealing content that you believe was flagged incorrectly, the better our automated tools will get at classifying your posts correctly. The more content these tools review, the more they will learn the difference between what’s permitted and what’s not. Most importantly, your content won’t be deleted if erroneously flagged and all appeals will be sent to a real, live human who can make the appropriate call.

We love Tumblr and the communities that call Tumblr home. You are Tumblr. This place has always been a reflection of the voices and communities that thrive here. As you’ve always done, help us continue to shape Tumblr into the community you want it to be.

A better, more positive Tumblr

staff

Since its founding in 2007, Tumblr has always been a place for wide open, creative self-expression at the heart of community and culture. To borrow from our founder David Karp, we’re proud to have inspired a generation of artists, writers, creators, curators, and crusaders to redefine our culture and to help empower individuality.

Over the past several months, and inspired by our storied past, we’ve given serious thought to who we want to be to our community moving forward and have been hard at work laying the foundation for a better Tumblr. We’ve realized that in order to continue to fulfill our promise and place in culture, especially as it evolves, we must change. Some of that change began with fostering more constructive dialogue among our community members. Today, we’re taking another step by no longer allowing adult content, including explicit sexual content and nudity (with some exceptions).

Let’s first be unequivocal about something that should not be confused with today’s policy change: posting anything that is harmful to minors, including child pornography, is abhorrent and has no place in our community. We’ve always had and always will have a zero tolerance policy for this type of content. To this end, we continuously invest in the enforcement of this policy, including industry-standard machine monitoring, a growing team of human moderators, and user tools that make it easy to report abuse. We also closely partner with the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children and the Internet Watch Foundation, two invaluable organizations at the forefront of protecting our children from abuse, and through these partnerships we report violations of this policy to law enforcement authorities. We can never prevent all bad actors from attempting to abuse our platform, but we make it our highest priority to keep the community as safe as possible.

So what is changing?

Posts that contain adult content will no longer be allowed on Tumblr, and we’ve updated our Community Guidelines to reflect this policy change. We recognize Tumblr is also a place to speak freely about topics like art, sex positivity, your relationships, your sexuality, and your personal journey. We want to make sure that we continue to foster this type of diversity of expression in the community, so our new policy strives to strike a balance.

Why are we doing this?

It is our continued, humble aspiration that Tumblr be a safe place for creative expression, self-discovery, and a deep sense of community. As Tumblr continues to grow and evolve, and our understanding of our impact on our world becomes clearer, we have a responsibility to consider that impact across different age groups, demographics, cultures, and mindsets. We spent considerable time weighing the pros and cons of expression in the community that includes adult content. In doing so, it became clear that without this content we have the opportunity to create a place where more people feel comfortable expressing themselves.

Bottom line: There are no shortage of sites on the internet that feature adult content. We will leave it to them and focus our efforts on creating the most welcoming environment possible for our community.

So what’s next?

Starting December 17, 2018, we will begin enforcing this new policy. Community members with content that is no longer permitted on Tumblr will get a heads up from us in advance and steps they can take to appeal or preserve their content outside the community if they so choose. All changes won’t happen overnight as something of this complexity takes time.

Another thing, filtering this type of content versus say, a political protest with nudity or the statue of David, is not simple at scale. We’re relying on automated tools to identify adult content and humans to help train and keep our systems in check. We know there will be mistakes, but we’ve done our best to create and enforce a policy that acknowledges the breadth of expression we see in the community.

Most importantly, we’re going to be as transparent as possible with you about the decisions we’re making and resources available to you, including more detailed information, product enhancements, and more content moderators to interface directly with the community and content.

Like you, we love Tumblr and what it’s come to mean for millions of people around the world. Our actions are out of love and hope for our community. We won’t always get this right, especially in the beginning, but we are determined to make your experience a positive one.

New Total: 2850 Gallons!

Phew!  We added 2000 gallons and she somehow gained even more gallons for the next round?

Rollover: +3522 Gallons

But that’s not just it… I know that we didn’t hit the follower count, but, what the heck?  Why not add what we do have in anyways!

Incoming Follower Count Bonus: +4500 Gallons!

The final stretch is finally here!  We’re gonna add all of the Rollover gallons, the follower gallons, as well as any gained during this last bit of the drive!

1 Like = 1 Gallon

1 Reblog = 15 Gallons

1 Ko-Fi = 100 Gallons

You can find my Ko-Fi here!

And on a somewhat sad note, this next picture in the note expansion will be my final pic here on this tumblr.  Thank you guys for everything over all the years, all the fun I’ve had and the friends I’ve made, all the silly asks and fun drawings that have spawned as a result of it all.

So, for the last pic, let’s all make her as big as we can!  Thank you guys so much!

The previous post of the note expansion got 193 likes, 13 comments, and 54 reblogs…

That is equal to 368 cheeseburgers, or 184 pounds!

And then we ALSO gained a total of 22 Ko-Fis, bringing Brooke’s burger count up another 176 cheeseburgers! You guys are killing it like holy damn

Now let’s add everything up again…

Brooke, after part 3, has been fed another 544 cheeseburgers, and has gained another 272 pounds. Adding this to her previous weight (879 pounds), Brooke now weighs 1,151 pounds, and has eaten a total of 2,046 cheeseburgers! We’ve breached the big 1K!

Rip in peace, table

Just as a reminder, the rules are as follows:

Each like = 1 cheeseburger,

Each comment also = 1 cheeseburger,

Each reblog = 3 cheeseburgers, and

Each Ko-Fi donated to my Ko-Fi = 8 cheeseburgers!

Stay tuned for part 5! Part 5 may be the final part, but I might do a sixth part too if I feel up to it

Statement about Icy Breeze

loneless-nsfw

It’s time for me to call out Icy Breeze. I’ve been sitting on this topic for way too long and without warning other people about him the situation doesn’t better. Some of you will know what I’m talking about, but for the rest I will tell you the story:

For me it all started last October, when Icy Breeze commissioned me. It was the time when I raised my prices and for him, because it just happened while we were talking, I gave a discount. So instead of the new $55 he just needed to pay $44. It all went like butter, we talked out the details and the commission was done not much later. Little did I know that 3 months later I get to deal with him again.
On February 6 PayPal opened a case of an “Unauthorized Transaction” in the amount of $41.98. I saw the case 10 days later (because I didn’t take commissions at that time I didn’t need to check PayPal that often). Everyone here using PayPal will know they don’t give you much more hints, so for two hours I was going on trying to figure out who, for what and why someone chargeback-ed on me, and I found out it was Icy’s commission, minus the fees, his credit card company wanted back from me.
I went to talk to Icy about this and apparently many more artists had this problem with him.
After days of contacting multiple artists and talking with them about this, we found out this was the second time in those 3 months: there were 2 waves with each 10-15 victims. But it wasn’t the only disgusting thing:
Throughout the days and weeks of dealing with this we found Icy had a different excuse every time you asked him. On Tumblr he posted that his credit card got stolen, he “expected a call or some kind of paperwork so [he] can say what were [his] payments and what were not but unfortunately that didn’t happen.”, which is the dumbest excuse, if he doesn’t have the most retarded credit card company ever, but on he went with more and more excuses. The latest I can think of is “My card didn’t get stolen. I had switched the numbers and my card company marked that as me claiming fraud even though I told them it wasn’t”, which is even worse, not only because he completely turns around from the public post he made, but also that’s absolutely not how credit cards work.
Obviously we, the artists, all called PayPal to try and get things sorted out. Some people like @whisperfoot-nsfw got their money back, but others like me did not, with the explanation that digital goods are lacking seller protection. All I could get refunded were the $2.02 PayPal fees. In the meanwhile Icy kept on shitting on our faces, still trying to keep his facade up, saying things like “I’ve done everything to speed up the process. […] The bank has charged me back for the full amount and sent the money back to paypal but it can take up to 40 or so days from now to process.”, which was the last bit we ever exchanged in a conversation, which was on February 21.
For some of the artists who did get their money back the story didn’t end there. Whisperfoot’s, Celestia bless you, commission for Icy was much more expensive than mine. Little later after he got his money back, he was charged back by PayPal again, but with an extra big fee of some sort, losing a total of $114 in the process. I don’t know of any other cases like Whisper’s, and it is assumed half the artists got their money back from PayPal now. But Whisper, nor I, and even less many others have.
This is the story up to now. Not much has changed since then, which now is 4 weeks ago.

With this post I wanted to raise awareness that there are people like this and we artists have to deal with this all the time; it’s part of the bad things about freelancing and taking commissions.
There is currently another well known commissioner going round fucking artists over, some know him by the name Icy Breeze 2.0, but that is a topic for another post.

TL;DR and Fazit:
Icy Breeze is a thief and liar. Never ever take commissions from him again!

If you want to see screenshots of conversations, just ask. I would also like to refer you to a blog post by Ylpmis showing a screenshot of Icy’s original blog post with the “my credit card got stolen” statements: https://simplybackwards.tumblr.com/post/170639336739/artistfandom-beware-icy-breezelightning

Please spread the message. If you want to help us, please just be honest and don’t spend money you don’t have.

Update:

PayPal just made the money available to me again. Still staying sceptical though, for obvious reasons, and that’s why I’m not de-validating this statement post and it will stay here for at least a while longer
